data-src-align=\"0:273\">The Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science \u2013 University of Mosul, on Monday, September 7, 2026, discussed the doctoral dissertation tagged \u201d development of a biosensor for estimating the levels of biochemical indicators in the blood serum of cancer patients\u201d, which was submitted by researcher Mohammed Nayef Mohammed shit Yusuf Abbasi, in the specialty of Physical Chemistry.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"282:255\">The aim of the thesis was to develop an unmarked electrochemical immunosensor for estimating the HER2 biomarker in the serum of breast cancer patients using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) technology, and to verify its performance by comparing it with the ELISA method, the tumor index CA 27-29 and a number of biochemical indicators.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"541:13\">The study involved<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"555:5\">the development<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"561:192\">and comparison of nine configurations of the immunosensor based on a glass carbon electrode and modifying its surface with polymeric and nanometric materials, with the use of Trastuzumab, pertuzumab and their combination as elements of immuno-recognition of HER2.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"762:7\">The study<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"757:4\">included<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"770:5\">the analysis<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"780:62\">of 160 serum samples, including 110 samples for breast cancer patients and 50 samples for healthy women.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"850:7\">The results<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"843:6\">showed<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"858:7\">the<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"866:224\">possibility of estimating HER2 electrochemically in human serum, with varying sensor performance depending on the electrode surface structure and the immunological recognition element, as well as using comparison with ELISA and CA 27-29 and statistical and clinical analyzes in evaluating the performance of the developed sensors.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1094:29\">The thesis highlights the importance of employing<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1153:7\">modern<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1139:13\">electrochemical<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1131:7\">analysis<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1124:6\">techniques<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1161:6\">to develop<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1177:5\">biosensors<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1183:8\">and apply<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1192:3\">them to<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1212:5\">actual<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1202:3\">human serum<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1196:5\">samples<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1223:4\">, which provides<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1235:6\">a scientific<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1228:6\">basis<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1242:147\">for the development of modern analytical methods for estimating biomarkers associated with breast cancer, and opens the way for future studies to assess their potential in clinical applications.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1393:353\">The discussion Committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Faiz Mohsen Hamid al-Abadi, with the membership of Prof. Dr. Sakina Hussein Rashid Al-Rawi, Assistant Prof. Dr. Noha Mohammed Yahya Mohammed, Assistant Prof. Dr. Rana Hassan Ahmed Kalou, Assistant Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mohamed Fakhri, and under the supervision and membership of Prof. Dr. Amer dhanoun Abdul Rahman al-Taie and Prof. lowai Abdul Ali al-Hilali.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1755:361\">On the sidelines of the discussion, the dean of the Faculty of science, professor Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Faiz Mohsen Hamid al \u2013 Abadi, a lecturer at the Faculty of science-Tikrit University, in appreciation of his scientific efforts and his active participation in chairing the dissertation discussion
