Within the framework of scientific and academic cooperation between Iraqi universities, Professor Dr. Zahra Muhammad Ali Ahmed hammudat, teaching in the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science \u2013 University of Mosul, specializing in biochemistry, participated in the membership of the doctoral dissertation discussion Committee of the researcher Dr. pharmacist Iyad Awad Hamid from the Faculty of Medicine \u2013 University of Tikrit.<\/span> The discussion<\/span> took<\/span> place on Sunday<\/span>, September 6, 2026<\/span> at<\/span> the Faculty of Medicine of Tikrit University<\/span>, about<\/span> his tagged<\/span> thesis<\/span>: \u201cEffect of iron supplementation on the thyroid peroxidase in patients with primary hypothyroidism and iron deficiency\u201d<\/span> The thesis<\/span> dealt<\/span> with the study of the effect of compensating iron deficiency in patients with primary hypothyroidism associated with iron deficiency, in particular with regard to the activity of the enzymes thyroid peroxidase (TPO) and catalase (Catalase), with the aim of demonstrating the relationship between iron levels, thyroid function and oxidative stress.<\/span> The results<\/span> showed<\/span> that the correction<\/span> of iron levels in patients can contribute to improving the efficiency of the synthesis of thyroid hormones, enhancing the functional activity of the studied enzymes, reducing oxidative stress.<\/span> The participation of Professor Dr. Zahra Muhammad Ali Ahmed hammudat in this discussion comes as a confirmation of the distinguished scientific presence of the Faculty of science teachers, and their active contribution to supporting the process of graduate studies and scientific research, and enhancing academic cooperation and exchange of experiences between Iraqi universities.<\/span> Our wishes<\/span> to our esteemed faculty teachers for their time of success, giving and scientific excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n
