As part of the continuing education activities, the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science \u2013 University of Mosul held, on Tuesday morning, September 29, 2026, a scientific workshop entitled “rose chemistry: analysis of effective compounds and their applications in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries”, in the presence of a group of professors of the department and those interested in the subject from inside and outside the University.<\/span> The workshop dealt with the chemical composition of roses and its aromatic compounds and methods of extraction, with a review of the most effective compounds, including terpene alcohols, ketones, aldehydes and terpene oxides, as well as carotenoids and flavonols and their role in the colors and aromas of roses.<\/span> She<\/span> also touched<\/span> upon the most important practical applications of rose in the perfume industry, cosmetics and skin care, aromatherapy, food industries, along with the importance of its natural compounds in a number of vital and industrial applications.<\/span> The workshop was presented<\/span> by Professor Dr. Soha Ali Ahmed, teacher Dr. Saba Mumtaz Saleh, assistant teacher Noha Amer Mustafa, and assistant teacher Bara Abdul Khaliq Mohammed.<\/span> Our wishes<\/span> to the workshop’s organizers and participants for continued success, further giving and scientific excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n
