The Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science \u2013 University of Mosul, on Monday, October 12, 2026, discussed the master thesis tagged “various techniques in the separation of X and Y sperm and chromosomal evaluation of embryos resulting from ICSI”, submitted by student Saadi Shihab Theyab Mustafa .<\/span> The thesis dealt with the comparison<\/span> of six<\/span> methods for the preparation of semen samples used in external fertilization techniques, in particular ICSI, including the routine method, swimming upwards from the precipitate, direct swimming upwards, centrifugation of a density gradient medium, physiological testing of spermatozoa, and careful separation of spermatozoa.<\/span> The aim of the study was to assess the impact of these methods on the rates of fertilization and early embryonic division, to determine the proportions of chromosomal abnormalities in the resulting embryos, as well as to determine the proportions of male and female embryos, and to study the centrifugal effect in the rate of DNA DNA breakdown of sperm.<\/span> The results<\/span> showed<\/span> that there were no significant differences<\/span> in<\/span> the rates of fertilization, divisions and chromosomal integrity between the six preparation methods, while the technique of precise separation of sperm recorded the highest percentage of chromosomally healthy embryos, amounting to 43.38%.<\/span> The study<\/span> also showed<\/span> a significant<\/span> increase<\/span> in the proportions of male fetuses in the methods dependent on swimming upwards, reaching 39.4% compared to 31.98% in the methods not dependent on them.<\/span> The results<\/span> also<\/span> showed<\/span> a significant<\/span> effect of centrifugation<\/span> in<\/span> sperm, as the rate of DNA DNA breakage increased from 20.62% before centrifugation to 26.43% after it.<\/span> The discussion<\/span> Committee<\/span> was chaired<\/span> by Dr. Hamad Jandari Juma Khalaf, with the membership of assistant professor Dr. Thaer Mohammed Hassan Meri and the teacher Dr. Abeer Ali Kazem Mohammed, and under the supervision and membership of the teacher Dr. mowafak Khalil Hassan Ali.<\/span> On the sidelines of the discussion, the dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Hayam Adel Ibrahim, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Prof. Dr. Hamad Jandari Juma from Al-Hadba University, in appreciation of his scientific efforts and participation in the discussion of the thesis.<\/span> We wish<\/span> the researcher<\/span> and all graduate students at the Faculty of science success, excellence and scientific giving.<\/span><\/p>\n
