The faculty members and students of the College of Tourism Sciences, accompanied by Assistant Professor Dr. Manal Raafat Khaled, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, organized a scientific visit to Hammam Al-Alil District on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Hammam Al-Alil is one of the most prominent therapeutic tourism destinations in Nineveh Governorate.<\/p>\n

This visit was part of a series of planned academic activities to enhance students’ knowledge of tourism and raise their awareness of the various types of tourism in Iraq, particularly in Nineveh.<\/p>\n

The group was welcomed by Mr. Khalid Muhammad Mahmoud Al-Tahtouh, the Director of Hammam Al-Alil District, who explained the region\u2019s natural features, especially the sulfur springs renowned for their healing properties. Al-Tahtouh explained that the district was named after these springs, which are known for curing ailments and attracting visitors from various provinces to benefit from its therapeutic hot waters.<\/p>\n

The itinerary also included a tour of Hammam Al-Alil Corniche and Tel Al-Sabt before concluding at the mineral baths, which contain a variety of minerals, including sulfur. During the visit, pharmacist May Khairi Al-Dabbagh delivered a brief lecture on the benefits of sulfuric spring water in treating skin diseases and highlighted several cases that had shown improvement due to the water’s therapeutic qualities.<\/p>\n

At the end of the visit, the Assistant Dean expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Khalid Al-Tahtouh, Ms. Shaimaa Hadi Mahmoud, the Director of the Women’s Mineral Baths Center, and pharmacist May Al-Dabbagh for their warm reception and hospitality.<\/p>\n
