As part of the academic collaboration among the colleges of the University of Mosul, the College of Tourism Sciences participated in the scientific symposium entitled “Baghdad: Cradle of Civilization and Memory of Heritage,” organized by the Center for Continuing Education at the University Presidency, in coordination with the College of Archaeology and the College of Tourism Sciences, on Thursday, May 29, 2025. The event was held in conjunction with\u00a0celebrating\u00a0World Heritage Day and selecting<\/span>\u00a0Baghdad as the Arab Capital of Tourism for this year.<\/p>\n

This participation\u00a0was directed by the College’s dean,\u00a0Assistant Professor Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, who stressed<\/span>\u00a0the importance of the college\u2019s academic presence in forums that enhance the value of tourism and national heritage.<\/p>\n

The symposium featured presentations by Asst. Lecturer Zahraa Abdul-Ghani Mustafa and Asst. Lecturer Shaimaa Fahad Rashid, addressed the most prominent tourism and cultural assets of Baghdad and highlighted the importance of investing in these assets to develop various types of tourism and strengthen the city\u2019s civilizational identity.<\/p>\n

Prof. Dr. Rafal Hassan Hamed, Assistant President of the University for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and a group of academics and professionals interested in heritage and tourism, attended the event.<\/p>\n

During the symposium, the College showcased images produced using artificial intelligence technologies, depicting visual scenes of Baghdad\u2019s landmarks from innovative artistic perspectives that reflected the city\u2019s historical depth and architectural diversity.<\/p>\n

This participation aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) through supporting academic and research activities; Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting tourism as an important economic sector; Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through highlighting the importance of preserving heritage; and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among university units and various scientific bodies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
