Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Prof. Dr. Manal Raafat Khalid, and in cooperation with the University of Mosul Presidency \/ Department of Studies and Planning \/ Sustainable Development Unit, the College of Tourism Sciences organized a workshop entitled \u201cFrom Institutional Dysfunction to Good Governance: Institutional Reform as a Pillar for Combating Violence Against Women,\u201d delivered by Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdullah Hussein on Sunday, 10 May 2026, in the presence of the Dean of the College, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Head of the Department of Tourism Studies, and a number of the college staff members.<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of institutional reform and the role of good governance in building institutions based on justice, transparency, and accountability, contributing to the reduction of violence against women and the promotion of women\u2019s rights and empowerment in society. It also addressed the mechanisms and procedures that help create a safe and supportive institutional environment founded on respect and equality, as well as raising awareness of the importance of strengthening a culture of social responsibility and rejecting all forms of violence and discrimination.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of the workshop, it was emphasized that the event aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: \u201cQuality Education,\u201d Goal 5: \u201cGender Equality,\u201d and Goal 16: \u201cPeace, Justice and Strong Institutions,\u201d reflecting the University of Mosul\u2019s commitment to supporting sustainable development issues and enhancing societal and institutional awareness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
