Prof. Dr. Yamama Zuhair Salih, on Sunday, August 2, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The examination committee consisted of:<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Dr. Ghada Abdulmunem Fares (College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Mosul) \u2013 Chairperson<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Ashraf Siddiq Elias (College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Mosul) \u2013 Member<\/p>\n<p>Lect. Dr. Mohammed Marai Hassan (College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Mosul) \u2013 Member<\/p>\n<p>Assist. Prof. Dr. Yamama Zuhair Salih (College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Mosul) \u2013 Member and Supervisor<\/p>\n<p>The study concluded that chronic exposure to potassium bromide induces progressive neurotoxicity, manifested by behavioral disturbances, oxidative stress, inflammation, and dose-dependent histopathological damage to the brain. In contrast, potassium iodide provided partial neuroprotection, reducing the severity of these adverse changes without completely preventing them. The findings suggest that potassium iodide may serve as an adjunctive agent to mitigate neurotoxicity; however, further studies are required to confirm its efficacy and elucidate its underlying mechanisms of action.<\/p>\n<p>Following the candidate&#8217;s confident and scientifically sound defense, and after thorough discussion by the examination committee, the thesis was approved.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to the researcher, the supervisor, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology on this scientific achievement.
