Master\u2019s Thesis Defense<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A Master\u2019s thesis defense was held at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Internal and Preventive Medicine<\/strong>, for the thesis entitled \u201cSeroepidemiological Study of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus in Buffalo in Mosul City, Iraq\u201d<\/strong>, presented by Duha Risan Shakir<\/strong> under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Saddam Dhahir Hassan<\/strong>, on Thursday, August 8, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The examination committee consisted of the following members:<\/p>\n

    The study aimed to determine the prevalence of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) in buffaloes in Mosul City, Iraq<\/strong>, and to clarify the role of certain risk factors, including sex, age, herd size, management purpose, and geographical area<\/strong>, in the spread of the disease. The study also aimed to record the associated clinical signs and investigate certain hematological changes in infected animals.<\/p>\n

    The results revealed an overall prevalence of 4.34% and 15.21%<\/strong> among serum samples collected from buffalo farms using the direct ELISA and indirect antibody ELISA<\/strong>, respectively. Meanwhile, the overall prevalence of persistently infected animals was 0%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Following the student\u2019s confident and scientifically rigorous defense of her thesis and the committee\u2019s discussion and evaluation, the thesis was accepted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Congratulations to the researcher, her supervisor, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Department of Internal and Preventive Medicine<\/strong> on this scientific achievement. We wish the examination committee continued success.<\/p>\n

    This thesis defense contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
