Master\u2019s Thesis Defense \u2013 College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathology and Poultry Diseases<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Master\u2019s thesis titled \u201cPathological Effects of Nano\u2011Silver on the Male Reproductive System of Rats and the Role of Selenium in Repairing the Damage\u201d<\/strong> by the student Ali Mohammed Hussein<\/strong>, supervised by Asst. Prof. Hadeel Basim Thanoon<\/strong>, was defended on Sunday, September 6, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    The study aimed to investigate the synergistic effects of nano\u2011silver particles and selenium<\/strong> on the male reproductive system of rats, including assessments of antioxidant enzymes<\/strong>, gene expression<\/strong>, morphometric measurements<\/strong>, and histopathological changes<\/strong>. The results showed a significant increase in body weight<\/strong> in the nano\u2011silver group. Statistical analysis revealed variations in the diameter and width of seminiferous tubules<\/strong> among all experimental groups. Additionally, levels of glutathione<\/strong> and superoxide dismutase<\/strong> enzymes exhibited significant differences in both treatments. Histopathological alterations varied in severity among the groups, with the selenium group showing the least tissue damage<\/strong>. These findings highlight the protective and restorative role of selenium<\/strong>, compared with nano\u2011silver particles, at the molecular level and as an antioxidant enhancer, contributing to the repair and preservation of male reproductive tissue structure in rats.<\/p>\n

    After the student confidently defended his thesis and addressed the committee\u2019s questions, the thesis was approved<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
