Master\u2019s Thesis Defense \u2013 College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Microbiology<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Master\u2019s thesis titled \u201cConventional and Molecular Diagnosis of Aerobic Bacteria Isolated from Otitis in Domestic Cats\u201d<\/strong> by the student Majda Ahmed Jassim<\/strong>, supervised by Prof. Amer Yahya Hameed<\/strong> and Prof. Omar Khazal Salo<\/strong>, was defended on Monday, September 7, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    The study aimed to perform conventional and molecular diagnosis<\/strong> of aerobic bacteria isolated from cases of otitis in domestic cats<\/strong>, including characterization of their morphology<\/strong>, cultural properties<\/strong>, and confirmation using modern rapid diagnostic tools such as VITEK<\/strong> and Render technology<\/strong>. Molecular assays were also conducted to detect virulence factor genes<\/strong> in the isolated bacteria.<\/p>\n

    The results showed that Staphylococcus spp.<\/strong> were the most frequently isolated bacteria, followed by Klebsiella pneumoniae<\/strong> and Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/strong>. The study also included antimicrobial susceptibility testing and screening for selected antibiotic resistance genes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    After the student confidently defended her thesis and addressed the committee\u2019s questions, the thesis was approved<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
