On Monday, October 27, 2025<\/strong>, the Center, in cooperation with the Department of Planning and Follow-up \/ Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency<\/strong>, organized a discussion session entitled \u201cWater Security in Iraq\u201d<\/strong>, delivered by Asst. Lecturer Mustafa Salem Mustafa<\/strong> from our Center.<\/p>\n

The session addressed the water crisis facing Iraq<\/strong>, which threatens its water and food security<\/strong>, due to the reduced share of the Tigris and Euphrates waters<\/strong> caused by large dams in upstream countries (Turkey and Iran<\/strong>), in addition to deteriorating water quality<\/strong> due to pollution and salinity. The situation is further exacerbated by climate change, rising temperatures, low rainfall, and recurrent droughts<\/strong>, leading to a sharp decline in river levels and a reduction of agricultural lands.<\/p>\n
