The Dams and Water Resources Research Center<\/strong>, in cooperation with the Department of Planning and Follow-up \/ Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency<\/strong>, held a scientific workshop entitled:
\u201cThe Impacts of Turkish Dams and Climate Change on Water Resources in Iraq\u201d<\/strong>
on December 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM<\/strong> in the Center\u2019s meeting hall<\/strong>, presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Anas Mahmoud Mohammed Rashid<\/strong>, faculty member and researcher.<\/p>\n

Workshop Overview:<\/strong>
The workshop addressed the effects of Turkish dams on the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers<\/strong>, in addition to the impacts of climate change<\/strong> on water scarcity in Iraq, the reduction in river flows<\/strong>, and the increased effects of desertification<\/strong> in the country.<\/p>\n

Workshop Recommendations:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Develop optimal plans for managing Iraq\u2019s water resources<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Reach an agreement with Turkey to ensure fair water shares<\/strong> of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers for Iraq.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Utilize modern irrigation techniques in agriculture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Raise public awareness on the importance of rational water consumption<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
