                Professor Dr. Riyadh Hamed Al-Dabbagh<\/strong>

                Professor Dr. Riyadh Hamed Al-Dabbagh earned his B.Sc. in Geology<\/strong> from the University of Mosul in 1968, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma<\/strong> and M.Sc. in Hydrogeology<\/strong> from the University of London in 1972. He later completed his Ph.D. in Hydrogeology<\/strong> at the same university in 1975.<\/p>\n

                Over the course of his career, he held numerous academic and administrative positions, including: Head of the Department of Geology (1976)<\/strong>, Dean of the College of Science<\/strong>, Assistant to the President of the University of Mosul (1977)<\/strong>, President of Al-Mustansiriya University (1982)<\/strong>, President of the University of Mosul (2001\u20132002)<\/strong>, and President of the University of Diyala<\/strong>. Notably, he was among the founders of three Iraqi universities<\/strong>: the University of Babylon, the University of Kufa, and the University of Diyala.<\/p>\n

                At the national and international levels, Professor Al-Dabbagh played an influential role. He chaired the Iraqi Scientific Research Authority<\/strong>, the Iraqi Committee for Geodesy and Geophysics<\/strong>, and represented Iraq in several international scientific organizations, including the International Association of Hydrological Sciences<\/strong> and the UNESCO International Hydrological Program<\/strong>. He also served as a regional expert for UNESCO, a member of the executive committee of the Association of Arab Universities<\/strong>, and was elected as a full member of the Iraqi Academy of Sciences<\/strong> in 1996.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Qubais Saeed Abdul-Fattah Al-Fahadi<\/strong>

                Born in 1947, Professor Dr. Qubais Al-Fahadi is recognized as one of the most influential academic leaders of the University of Mosul. He earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research<\/strong> from the University of Hull, United Kingdom, in 1972, along with several advanced qualifications in statistics, programming, and systems analysis.<\/p>\n

                Over the course of his career, he held a number of prominent academic and administrative positions, including: Dean of the College of Administration and Economics<\/strong>, Assistant to the University President for Scientific Affairs<\/strong>, President of the University of Mosul (1992\u20132001)<\/strong>, and later President of the University of Tikrit (2001\u20132003)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

                Professor Al-Fahadi left a lasting mark on the development of higher education institutions in Iraq. He established the first Computer Center at the University of Mosul<\/strong>, founded several new departments, colleges, and postgraduate programs, and authored influential books in statistics and information systems. He supervised dozens of postgraduate theses and dissertations, shaping generations of researchers and academics.<\/p>\n

                His scholarly and innovative achievements earned him more than 120 awards and certificates of recognition<\/strong>. Notably, he received the Presidential Medal of Honor in 2002<\/strong> for his pioneering work in designing the Talking Akkadian Dictionary using computer technology<\/strong>. In 2000, he was selected by the University of Cambridge, UK, as one of the world\u2019s most distinguished scientists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Abdul-Ilah Yousif Mustafa Al-Khashab<\/strong>

                Professor Dr. Abdul-Ilah Al-Khashab (1940 \u2013 \u2026) is an Iraqi academic and author, born in the city of Mosul. He is regarded as one of the most prominent scientific figures in the history of higher education in Iraq. Over the course of his career, he held several key leadership positions, including President of the University of Basrah (1975\u20131985)<\/strong>, President of the University of Mosul (1984\u20131992)<\/strong>, and President of the University of Baghdad (1992\u20132001)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

                Professor Al-Khashab has published more than twenty scientific papers in peer-reviewed Arab and international journals, and supervised numerous master\u2019s theses and doctoral dissertations. He also contributed to the publication of the Mosul Civilizational Encyclopedia<\/strong>, a landmark reference work documenting the history and heritage of the cit<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Mohammed Majid Al-Saeed<\/strong>

                Professor Dr. Mohammed Majid Al-Saeed (d. 2012) was a distinguished Iraqi academic, born in Tikrit. He held several prominent positions in higher education, including Dean of the College of Education at the University of Basrah<\/strong>, President of the University of Mosul (1978\u20131984)<\/strong>, Assistant Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities<\/strong>, and President of Al-Iraqia University (formerly the Islamic University) in Baghdad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

                Specialized in Andalusian literature<\/strong>, Professor Al-Saeed made significant scholarly contributions. Among his most notable works are his renowned book \u201cPoetry in the Era of the Almoravids and Almohads\u201d<\/em> and his critical edition of \u201cThe Diwan of Ibn Al-Labbana Al-Dani\u201d<\/em>, which he compiled, verified, and published in Amman, Jordan.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Issam Abdul Ali<\/strong>

                Professor Dr. Issam Abdul Ali (1935 \u2013 \u2026) is an Iraqi academic, poet, and writer. Born in Baghdad, with family roots in the city of Al-Khalis, he served as President of the University of Mosul from 1977 to 1978, where he contributed to strengthening the University\u2019s academic and cultural life.<\/p>\n

                In addition to his administrative and academic roles, Professor Abdul Ali is well known for his literary contributions. Among his most notable works is the book \u201cMihyar Al-Daylami: His Life and Poetry\u201d<\/em>, alongside a body of poetic and intellectual writings that secured him a respected place in Iraq\u2019s cultural circles.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Mohammed Sadiq Al-Mashat<\/strong>

                Professor Dr. Mohammed Sadiq Al-Mashat (1930 \u2013 2015) was a distinguished Iraqi academic, born in Baghdad, with expertise in law and sociology. He served as President of the University of Mosul from November 24, 1970, to January 30, 1977<\/strong>, before being appointed Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (1977\u20131978)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

                In addition to his academic and administrative roles, Professor Al-Mashat held several governmental and diplomatic positions. He served as Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs<\/strong> and later represented Iraq as Ambassador in Paris, Vienna, London, and Washington, D.C.<\/strong><\/p>\n

                He passed away in Vancouver, Canada, on September 19, 2015<\/strong>, leaving behind a distinguished legacy in academia, administration, and diplomacy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Nizar Nazif Al-Shawi<\/strong>
                President of the University of Mosul (1969 \u2013 1970)<\/strong><\/p><\/h3><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Nizar Nazif Al-Shawi was one of Iraq\u2019s distinguished academic and administrative figures. He served as President of the University of Mosul from November 23, 1969, to August 23, 1970<\/strong>, before being appointed President of the University of Basrah (1970\u20131975)<\/strong>. In the 1980s, he held several senior positions, including President of the Iraqi Scientific Research Council (1980)<\/strong> and Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (1983)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

                Specialized in Bacteriology<\/strong>, Dr. Al-Shawi worked at the College of Medicine \u2013 University of Baghdad, where he also served as Assistant Dean in the 1960s. A graduate of a U.S. university, he was well known for his integrity, simplicity, and kindness.<\/p>\n

                He belonged to the notable Iraqi Al-Shawi Al-Obaidi family<\/strong>; his father, Lt. Gen. Nazif Al-Shawi, served as Iraq\u2019s Minister of Defense in 1941<\/strong>. Professor Dr. Nizar Nazif Al-Shawi passed away in Amman, Jordan, and was laid to rest in Sahab Cemetery.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Mahmoud Amin Al-Jalili<\/strong>
                First President of the University of Mosul (1967 \u2013 1969)<\/strong><\/p><\/h3><\/div>

                Professor Dr. Mahmoud Amin Al-Jalili (1921 \u2013 2011) was a prominent Iraqi physician, born in Mosul. He became the first President of the University of Mosul<\/strong>, serving from its founding on March 30, 1967, until October 23, 1969<\/strong>. He was also the first Iraqi physician to obtain membership of the Royal College of Physicians in London<\/strong>, making him one of the pioneers of the medical profession in Iraq.<\/p>\n

                Beyond his academic and professional career, Dr. Al-Jalili was deeply engaged in heritage and scholarship.
