Human Rights Division<\/p><\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Introduction<\/h3>\n

In recognition of the University of Mosul\u2019s leading role in building an informed academic community and promoting the values of justice and human dignity, the Human Rights Division was established as an active component of the University\u2019s institutional structure. The Division seeks to uphold the principles of human rights and promote a culture of human rights among students, academic staff, and administrative personnel.<\/p>\n

The Division works to support a fair and safe university environment by organizing awareness programs and purposeful activities, providing specialized consultations and training, and engaging with community issues related to human rights.<\/p>\n

Vision<\/h3>\n

The Human Rights Division at the University of Mosul aspires to become an academic and community reference in the field of human rights and to contribute to creating a university environment founded on the principles of justice, equality, and respect. This will help establish a strong culture of human rights within the University and positively impact the local community.<\/p>\n

Mission<\/h3>\n

The Human Rights Division seeks to promote a culture of human rights both within and beyond the University campus through education, training, scientific research, and the development of effective partnerships. These efforts aim to empower individuals on the basis of human dignity and equality and to reinforce the principles of pluralism, tolerance, and justice.<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/h3>\n

    Raise awareness of human rights culture among University students, faculty members, and staff.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Organize workshops, seminars, and training courses in various areas of human rights.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Monitor and follow up on violations or infringements related to human rights within the University.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Provide legal and academic support and consultation on human rights issues.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Support and encourage scientific research on human rights issues and promote relevant academic studies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    Establish cooperative relationships with national and international institutions working in the field of human rights.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  7. \n

    Integrate human rights concepts into university activities and administrative practices.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Duties and Responsibilities of the Human Rights Division \u2013 University of Mosul<\/h3>\n

    In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research \/ Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, Ref. No.\u00a0J.H. 4594 dated 24\/10\/2024<\/strong>, and based on the approved institutional framework for human rights structures within Iraqi universities, the Human Rights Division at the University of Mosul performs the following duties and responsibilities:<\/p>\n

    1. \n

      Propose policies, plans, and programs aimed at promoting and protecting human rights principles within the University, including those concerning students and University personnel (faculty members and employees), and coordinate these efforts with relevant entities both within and outside the University.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      Receive human rights-related complaints submitted by students or University personnel; examine and analyze such complaints; propose appropriate solutions in coordination with the relevant departments and units; establish a dedicated database for complaints and the associated investigative and auditing committees; and update the database periodically.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    3. \n

      Promote legal and human rights awareness within the University community by organizing continuous education and awareness programs, conducting seminars and interactive workshops, and disseminating specialized educational materials on human rights.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    4. \n

      Enhance the competencies of Division staff and University personnel by implementing technical and scientific qualification and training programs in coordination with relevant entities within and outside the University, thereby strengthening their capabilities in the field of human rights and their skills in addressing human rights-related issues.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    5. \n

      Strengthen cooperation and institutional partnerships with civil society organizations and institutions working in the field of human rights, following the necessary official approvals from the University Presidency and the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    6. \n

      Prepare and submit periodic reports on the Division\u2019s activities and achievements and forward them to the\u00a0Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority \/ Human Rights Department at the Ministry<\/strong>\u00a0within the specified timeframes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    7. \n

      Contribute to supporting scientific research related to human rights by encouraging specialized studies, theses, dissertations, and research, and by providing the necessary data and support to researchers interested in this field.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    8. \n

      Carry out official duties and assignments received from the\u00a0Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority \/ Human Rights Department<\/strong>, as well as any duties required by the nature of the Division\u2019s work within the University, in a manner that fulfills its institutional objectives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Activities<\/h3>\n

      1. \n

        Organize conferences, seminars, workshops, and other activities related to human rights issues, such as equality, non-discrimination, the right to education, and freedom of expression.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      2. \n

        Develop specialized training programs for faculty members and students on mechanisms for protecting human rights at both the national and international levels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      3. \n

        Publish booklets and awareness materials containing information and legal guidance related to fundamental rights within the University campus.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      4. \n

        Contribute to national and international campaigns aimed at raising awareness of human rights and social justice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      5. \n

        Encourage student-led human rights initiatives and support student activities that promote humanitarian values.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      6. \n

        Cooperate with relevant research centers and colleges to integrate efforts in supporting human rights research and studies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Conclusion<\/h3>\n

        The Human Rights Division at the University of Mosul embodies the University\u2019s vision of building a humane academic community founded on respect for human dignity and the fundamental rights of every individual.<\/p>\n

        Through integrated efforts and institutional support, the Division will continue to serve as an effective instrument for disseminating and strengthening these fundamental values throughout the University and beyond.<\/p>\n
