Following the launch of the Pulse of Mosul project by the Prime Minister\u2019s Office\u2014aimed at preserving the heritage landmarks of Mosul and promoting cultural tourism, and in coordination with the Nineveh Governorate\u2014a high-level meeting was held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Mosul. The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister\u2019s Advisor and Head of the Secretariat of the High Coordination Commission between Provinces, Mr. Torhan Al-Mufti, along with the Governor of Nineveh, Engineer Abdulqader Al-Dakhil.<\/p>\n
The University of Mosul was represented by its President, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, the Assistant of the President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon, and the Director of Administrative Affairs at the University Presidency.<\/p>\n
The meeting was also attended by the President of the University of Nineveh, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, the Director of Mosul Municipality, Mr. Abdul Sattar Al-Habo, and several members of the Provincial Council.<\/p>\n
The discussions focused on mechanisms for activating scientific cooperation between academic institutions, government bodies, and international organizations within the core frameworks needed to launch this major national project. The participants emphasized unifying efforts to achieve the project\u2019s central objectives, which include:<\/p>\n
\u2981 Enhancing the economic utilization of the Old City by reconstructing it while preserving its authentic historical identity.<\/p>\n
\u2981 Halting the deterioration of tourism resources through the protection and restoration of Mosul\u2019s ancient urban fabric and its original architectural character.<\/p>\n
\u2981 Supporting social stability by restoring life to the Old City following reconstruction.<\/p>\n
\u2981 Encouraging investments and revitalizing domestic tourism.<\/p>\n
The meeting and the project\u2019s vision conveyed a deeper message: fostering a social environment that values heritage, supports sustainable development, and strengthens participatory growth among the central government, the city, the local community, and civil society organizations. Additional goals include reviving traditional crafts as economic resources and highlighting Mosul\u2019s competitive advantages and civilizational treasures.<\/p>\n
The participation of the University of Mosul in this major event reflects the depth of academic expertise it possesses in fields related to heritage, history, society, and engineering, and its ability to employ this expertise in support of the project\u2019s objectives. This engagement aligns with the university\u2019s mission to serve institutions and society through science-based development.<\/p>\n
