The Department of Pharmacology Conducts Seminars for Master's Students

The Department of Pharmacology and in the presence of the Vice- Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assist. Prof Dr Humam Gh. I. Zubeer and under the supervision and presence of the Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Assistant Prof Dr Qasim S. al-Nuaimi, and Prof Dr Imad A. Thanoon undertook the presentation of seminars for master`s students on Sunday, 8 December 2019. The student Raghad Akram presented the seminar entitled " Tocolytics"  while the student Rahma Ahmed presented the seminar entitled " Antidiarrhea and Laxative laxatives" Finally,  the student Raja Ali presented the seminar entitled " Antiemitcs." Among the attendees were some of the academic teaching staff such as Dr Shatha Hani, Dr Ibrahim Muhammad, Dr Omar Shandala as well as graduate students. On the other hand, the Vice- Dean for Scientific Affairs with the Head of the Department pursued the mid-exam of the Pharmacology for master’s students from the Department of Medical Physiology.

The Director of Mosul Training Centre for the Arab Board and the Arab Board Official for ENT Surgery Visit the College of Medicine

The Director of the Mosul Training Centre for the Arab Board, the consultant doctor Dr Rafie` H. al-Qazzaz, and the official of the Arab Board for Otolaryngology (Mosul Training Centre), the consultant doctor Dr Raghadan M. Dawood, visited the College of Medicine on Wednesday, 4 December 2019. They were received by Vice- Dean of the College Assist. Prof Dr Hazim Kh. al-Allaf, and the Vice- Dean for Scientific Affairs Scientific Assist. Prof Dr Humam Gh. I. Zubeer. During their meeting, they discussed ways of mutual cooperation and high coordination between the Board Centre and the college and discussing other related topics. Then, they met with a number of supervisors, trainers, and students of the Arab and Iraqi Council of ENT Surgery of Mosul Training Centre. The meeting discussed the obstacles and difficulties facing the board students, and discussing the solutions according to the available capabilities. They concluded their visit by attending the fourth meeting of the Division of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) of the Journal of Club.

Discussing a research of Iraqi Board student in ENT

The research of the Iraqi Board student in ENT surgery prepared by the student Ali A. Hasan al-Sayegh entitled "Laryngeal injuries and dyslexia after tracheal intubation" was examined at 10 am on Sunday, 17thNovember 2019 at the seminars hall of the College of Pharmacy and in the presence of the Vice- Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assist. Prof Dr Hazim Kh. al-Allaf and the Vice- Dean for Scientific Affairs Assist. Prof Dr Humam Gh. Ibrahim Zubeer. The discussion committee consisted of assist. Prof Dr Basil M. Natheer Saeed (Chair), assist. Prof Dr Nafie M. Shehab (currently retired), Consultant Physician Dr Raghadan M. Dawood (Member) and assist. Prof Dr Haitham A. al-Nouri (Supervisor). After discussion, the decision was read which included the acceptance of the research after doing the committee's observations. The discussion was attended by the Iraqi Board Official for ENT Surgery (Mosul Training Centre) Prof Dr Ali A. Mohammed, and some of the teaching staff. We congratulate the student and wishing him further progress.

On Monday, 11th November 2019, the College of Medicine at University of Duhok discussed the doctoral thesis of the student Heavy M. Mahmoud entitled " Antioxidants Role in Repairing DNA Damage among Patients with Diabetes Mellitus" The committee included Prof Dr Nasir A. Abdulrahman (Chief), Head of the Physiology Department Prof Dr Bebeen Kh. al- Slevany (Member), assist. Prof Dr Samir B. al-Mukhtar (Member), assist. Prof Dr Masaud A. Abdulrahman (Member), assist. Prof Dr Amen M. Mohammad (Member), assist. Prof Dr Diya` J. Salih (Supervisor). After the discussion, the committee awarded the student the doctorate degree in clinical biochemistry.

The Department of Pathology holds the 2nd Weekly Activity for Iraqi Board Students

In the presence of the Head of the Department of Pathology, Assist. Prof Dr Nadwa S. al-Izzo, the head Division of Pathology held a second weekly activity on Monday, November 4, 2019. The activity was presented by the students of the Iraqi Board which included presenting cases by the student Maryam Moayad and a topic by the student Heba Melhem. This activity was held after the meeting which managed by Dr Mustafa S. Fadil. Among the attendees were Prof Dr Wahda M.Tayeb, the Responsible of Mosul Training Centre of Iraqi Board, Consultant Physician Dr Hatim al-Nuaimi, Responsible of Mosul training Centre of Arab Board, a number of academic teaching staff from Mosul and Nineveh University, and graduate students.

The Preliminary Exam for the Arab Board Students Using OSCE System

The Paediatrics Branch and the Nineveh Department of Health conducted the preliminary exam for Arab Board students using the OSCE system on Thursday, October 31th 2019 at al-Khansa`Teaching Hospital. The number of examiners were seven students. This preliminary exam does not include in the assessment of the student and the final exam will be held later.

The Department of Pharmacology held a seminar by a graduate student on Tuesday, 29 October 2019. The master's student Zahraa Nafi delivered her seminar entitled: 'Management of Hepatic Encephalopathy' by the supervision of the head of the department assist. Prof Dr Qassim S. al-Nuaimi and Prof Dr Imad A. Dannoun. The seminar comes within the activities of the above -mentioned department for graduate students. The seminar was attended by the Vice –Dean for Scientific Affairs assist. Prof Dr Humam Gh. Zubeer, teaching staff of the the Department of Pharmacology, and graduate students.
