Continued Implementation of Field Experiments for the 2025–2026 Winter Season at the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Researches– University of Mosul.

The Genetic Resources Department at the Center for Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Researches, University of Mosul, continues to carry out its research activities for the 2025–2026 winter season as part of its scientific plans aimed at developing agricultural crops and improving their adaptability to dryland environments.
On Wednesday, 3 December 2025, the Center research fields witnessed the implementation of two field experiments. The first experiment involved the evaluation of lentil genetic lines sourced from the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). The second experiment focused on planting and assessing two varieties of Lupinus.
These research activities come as part of the Center’s efforts to enhance agricultural productivity by exploring crop varieties with genotypes traits and improved adaptability to local climatic and environmental conditions. This work supports breeding and selection programs and contributes to advancing the sustainability of dryland and conservation agriculture systems in Iraq. The efforts also align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) through the development of more productive and climate-resilient crops, and Goal 13 (Climate Action) by strengthening the resilience of agricultural systems to climate change.
