The Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research – University of Mosul Holds a Specialized Scientific Workshop on Successful Development Projects.

On Tuesday, 30 December 2025, the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research , in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Mosul, held a scientific workshop entitled “Successful Projects that Improved Living Standards Despite Limited Resources.” The workshop included a series of important lectures delivered by Assistant Lecturer Azhar Omar Ali and Agricultural Engineer Rasha Hamed Awad. The speakers presented models of development projects that contributed to improving the economic and social conditions of communities despite the scarcity of available resources.
During the workshop, emphasis was placed on the role of such projects in achieving several Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 1 (No Poverty) by providing new sources of income and supporting the most vulnerable groups; Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) through enhancing food security; Goal 5 (Gender Equality) by empowering women and involving them in leading development projects; Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by creating employment opportunities and stimulating local economic growth; and Goal 13 (Climate Action) through the efficient management of natural resources and addressing the challenges of drought and climate change.
