The Arabic Language Department at the College of Arts, University of Mosul held a viva session to examin an MA thesis entitled “The Shimr bin Hamdawe’s Narratives (255 H ) on Ibn Al-Jawzi’s (597 H.) unknown Hadeeth: A Semantic Study ” on Wednesday 15th of May, 2024.

The study by (Marwa Ali Abdul Qadir Alpeghambarli) of Arabic Department tackled the narratives of Shimr bin Hamdawe on Inb Al-Jawzl's unknown Hadeeth. The thesis tackled 98 words; 11 of which on nature(earth and sky), 10 on animals, and 77 on human. An inductive-descriptive approach has been adopted in the study together with a semantic analysis. The thesis started studying the 'word' semantically; it traced the triple root of the word and its relationship to its meaning relying on the dictionary of Al-Maqaayees (the measures) and books of language.
