Towards a Digital University

Vision

The Computer Center at the University of Mosul envisions the establishment of modern frameworks to reduce bureaucratic procedures inherent in traditional administrative systems. Its goal is to shift toward providing seamless, efficient digital services that streamline government transactions and bridge the gap between citizens and institutions by offering open-access digital platforms.

The center is committed to serving the broader community, and in particular, the university, its students, and its staff, by advancing computing, communications, and information technology services. It aspires to contribute to the creation of a fully electronic university capable of overcoming existing challenges, closing technological gaps, and expanding digital practices to become the prevailing standard. Through scientific and technical innovation, the center seeks to foster a progressive, knowledge-based, and accessible environment.

Mission

The Computer Center at the University of Mosul is dedicated to promoting a culture of digital transformation within governmental and academic contexts. It works to raise awareness of advanced technology solutions in the fields of communication and IT, and provides expert consultation services that align with global trends in digital development.

The center also strives to elevate the academic and technical skills of university students, empowering them to match the competencies of their peers in top international institutions. By enhancing innovation and knowledge, the center aims to prepare students to meet the demands of a rapidly changing global job market and to secure a solid footing in competitive professional environments.

Objectives

  • Establish internationally accredited training centers in partnership with global companies (e.g., Microsoft, MikroTik, Cisco, Oracle) to offer certifications in IT, system development, web development, and smart device applications.

  • Train and qualify University of Mosul staff to ensure optimal utilization of IT systems and computer applications across academic and administrative departments.

  • Develop and upgrade the university’s optical fiber and wireless communication networks to support a modern digital infrastructure.

  • Design and implement custom software solutions and systems tailored to the needs of the university, as well as public and private sector institutions.

  • Continuously enhance and maintain the university’s official website, including developing the necessary software components for an integrated e-portal system.

  • Engage academic staff in advanced training programs to enhance their teaching and technical capacities, thereby enabling them to train others seeking international certifications.

  • Plan, implement, and monitor the periodic updating of the university’s network infrastructure, ensuring the availability of high-quality hardware and software for maximum efficiency and security.

  • Provide expert consultation services to all colleges and centers within the University of Mosul, and create a supportive advisory environment for government institutions and private sector entities.
