The Human Rights Unit is a branch of the Human Rights Division affiliated with the Presidency of the University of Mosul. It is one of the units established in recent years as part of the University Presidency’s growing interest in promoting and strengthening human rights. Accordingly, Human Rights Units have been established in various colleges and centers of the University.

In pursuit of advancing this field, the Human Rights Unit at the Center for Continuing Education is committed to actively fulfilling its role through a range of activities and responsibilities, most notably:

1. 1. Organizing scientific activities and events, including workshops and seminars on human rights for academic and administrative staff, with the aim of raising awareness of human rights issues, emphasizing their importance, and promoting a culture of citizenship within society as a whole.
2. 2. Hosting specialized academics and experts in human rights, whether from colleges of law or relevant governmental institutions, to address citizens’ rights and responsibilities within their country.
3. 3. Establishing communication and cooperation with organizations and institutions concerned with human rights outside the University of Mosul, with the aim of fostering coordination and strengthening communication between the University and specialized governmental bodies in the field of human rights.

4. 4. Conducting field visits to institutions related to human rights, such as prisons, orphanages, and care homes for the elderly, to assess the conditions of their residents and the level of care provided by staff, in addition to offering moral and emotional support to residents in a manner that reinforces their sense of dignity, value, and place within society
