Within the policy of the University of Mosul, headed by Prof. Dr. Kossay Al-Ahmady, to support and facilitate the work of all the activities of the voluntary teams and organizations in order to serve the University and society, and with the coordination of Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, Secretary-General of the University Libraries, (Communication is our Way) Voluntary Team, under the supervision of the Organization of Pioneering in Capacity-building within the Programme of the Pioneers of Donorship 3, initiated the opening of the free library (Me and the Book). Ms. Israa Mohammed, the Team Leader, said that this initiative aimed to embody the idea of the honesty in borrowing and returning books as well as encouraging reading to increase students’ culture and knowledge. The opening of the project was at the College of Basic Education at the University second campus. It was attended by the Team’s leader and members, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Wafiq, the Dean of the College, some of the College’s heads of departments, and a representative of the Central Library. Dr. Mohammed appreciated this pioneering intellectual initiative, wishing them doing further initiatives in the near future. After that, they moved to the University main campus where the free library of the team was opened at the College of Islamic Sciences in the presence of Dr. Thabet Mahdy, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and some of the College’s lecturers. Dr. Mahdy expressed his thanks and encouragement to implement such creative intellectual initiatives at the University of Mosul to contribute to the rebuilding of the students personality by supplying them with books that dispel the destructive thoughts of extremism and hatred.
