The Central Library is the Subject of a Master’s Thesis in the Department of Information and Libraries
In an effort by the University of Mosul, headed by Prof. Dr. Kossay Al-Ahmady, to cast light and introduce the scientific and international communities to the destruction of the University libraries, especially the Central Library, caused by ISIS, and to show them the vision of the University to rebuild and return the Central Library to its former state as one of the most notable library in the Middle East and move it towards universality with the support of all the local and international good and civilized personalities and organizations. Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, Secretary-General of the University Libraries, received a master’s student from the Department of Information and Libraries of the College of Arts of the University of Mosul, who chose the Central Library and its rehabilitation efforts as the subject of her dissertation owing to the outstanding importance of this University academic edifice at the scientific and cultural levels. During a series of interviews, Mr. Secretary-General answered all the technical and administrative inquiries made by the researcher regarding the rehabilitation plans based on a new vision relating to the University’s role in setting the current and future scientific and cultural plans for the Library. At last, the Master’s student appreciated the Secretary-General and the library staff for their information and guidance throughout her research, wishing them continued progress and success in their relentless quest to revive the most notable cultural and scientific milestone at the University.
