The Central Library Shares the World in the Celebration of World Book and Copyright Day
To embody the vision of the University of Mosul, headed by Prof. Dr. Kossay Al-Ahmady, in communicating constructively with the world for the good of our University, Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, General-Secretary of the University Libraries, and the library staff share with the international community in the celebration of the World Book and Copyright Day on Thursday, April 23, 2020, to highlight the importance of books for humanity as means of expressing human values, transferring variuos knowledge, keeping human intangible heritage, cultural diversity and of global dialogue, especially under the current exceptional circumstances of the Coronavirus Pandemic that resulted in the compulsory lockdown of many schools and libraries worldwide. Therefore, books, whether printed or electronic, are considered the approved and successful international means to overcome these conditions and strengthen human ties and an opportunity to see the various global cultures. The celebration of this world day sheds light on the significant role of intellectual works that contributed to human advancement at all levels. It is worth mentioning that the UNESCO selected the 23rd of April as the World Book Day to memorize the deaths and births of many international influential literary writers.Happy new year for the writers, readers and everybody who works in the field of books
