(Jews in Mosul)

This is a new book of 367 pages written by my friend, Dr. Ali Sheet Mahmood Al-Hayyani, and issued by Al-Rafidain Publishing House in Beirut. It addresses the economic, social, cultural, religious and political aspects of the history of the Jewish community in Mosul during the time of the monarchy (1921-1958).The preface of the book comes under the topic (the Jews of Mosul in the Ottoman Empire), whereas each of its four chapters respectively deals with the economic activities of Mosul Jews, the aspects of their social life, their cultural and religious activities and their political situations and attitudes. The sources on which the book depended are: unpublished documents, government publications, personal notes, university dissertations, Arabic books, translated books, researches, articles, personal interviews, encyclopedias and newspapers. These sources have contributed to enriching the book with many significant information on the history of Mosul Jews, as the writer made a great effort to collect the information through researching, inquiring and interviewing with governmental and university personalities and institutions. We hope that this book will take a position worthy of it in the Central Library, and Mosul libraries.Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nizar Al-DabbaghCenter of Mosul StudiesUniversity of Mosul#Share_your_Readings
