Christian Families in Mosul

This is a book written by Behnam Salim Habbaba, one of the pedagogic researchers in Mosul, and issued by the General Directorate of Syriac Culture and Arts in Kurdistan Province of Iraq (Erbil: 2012). Behnam’s book signifies his love of Mosul and its history. Prof. Dr. Jazil Al-Jomard was one of those who inspired Behnam to write this book to record the most notable ancient and modern Christian families in Mosul in the historical memory of Iraqis. The book mentions more than sixty Christian families, their neighborhoods, alleys, churches and shops, pointing out their significant roles and participation in all spheres of life in Mosul, and providing souvenir photos of Mosul long tradition and fashion that indicate the importance of Christians in the mosaic of social fabric in Mosul. Mosul Christians were, and still are, an integral part of Mosul society. In writing this book, the author depended on different sources ranging from written ones to field visits to some of Christian figures and families in Mosul and the diaspora, accompanied by his wife Marie Wadia Jajjo.Assist.
