The Black Swan … the Impact of the Highly Improbable

This is one of the most influential and bestselling books written by the Lebanese-American scholar and risk analyst Nassim Nicholas Taleb, translated into Arabic by Halim Nasib Nasr and the Arabic language edition was published by the Arabic Scientific Publishers (Beirut: 2009). The book calls upon individuals and communities to take entirely seriously the methodology of the Black Swan facts (the impact of the highly improbable ) to avert the unwelcome consequences of unpredictable occurrences. The author reports many historical events that had negative, and even disastrous, effects on humans and countries because of lack of attention and foresight. According to this book problems have three characteristics: they are unpredictable, they may have catastrophic impact and they are not pre-assessable and hence are unavoidable. It is crucial to assess the consequences of past events to overcome, take due diligence and precaution and mitigate the impact of future similar problems and we should not overlook the fact that history repeats itself.Ahmad Hamed MuhammadThird Year StudentCollege of LawUniversity of Mosul#Share_your_Readings
