The Iraqi Society of Information, Libraries and Documentation Professionals Hosts the Secretary-General of the University Libraries to Lecture on the Pre- and Post-Liberation Central Library ..

Within the direction of the University of Mosul to enhance knowledge communication with specialized institutions and societies, the Iraqi Society of Information, Libraries and Documentation Professionals hosted Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, Secretary-General of the University Libraries, to lecture on (The Central Library of the University of Mosul Is Rising Again) on the Zoom platform at 9:00 p.m on Saturday, May 29, 2021, to talk about the pre- and post-ISIS Central Library. The lecture shed light on the history of the Library since its establishment in 1967 and the stages of its development and prosperity to be one of the notable Iraqi and Middle Eastern Libraries, that plays a leading cultural and scientific role and then its destruction, burning and looting by ISIS and finally its reconstruction and rehabilitation after liberation with the efforts of the University Presidency and the ongoing initiatives of many local and global personalities, organizations and academic institutions. The Secretary-General also referred to the adoption of the University Presidency’s creative vision by the Central Library, to open up to the world to exchange information and administrative, scientific and cultural experiences, advance the Library, keep pace with the latest administrative and technical developments, hold workshops and specialized electronic courses throughout the year for the library staff and the other personnel and academics inside and outside the University and to hold periodic meetings with the library staff in order to exchange visions on the best plans for developing the Library and enabling it to perform its mission to the fullest extent by overcoming the obstacles imposed by the Corona pandemic in order to serve the cultural and scientific careers in our prestigious University and our dear country.
