Central Library

Within the framework of cooperation between the University of Mosul and mass media, the Alsumaria TV visited the Central Library and conducted an interview with the Secretary-General of the University Libraries, Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, to speak about the Central Library’s pioneering cognitive role and the events it has gone through since its establishment to the present day. During the interview, Mr. Sayf gave detailed information about the role the library played in spreading culture and science to many Iraqi generations who contributed to serving their dear country, mentioning the destruction, looting and burning of the Library during the occupation of the city of Mosul by ISIS and the suspension of academic life at the University of Mosul, and how life returned to it after liberation through local and international support, which brought it back to the role it had always played for decades with plans to keep pace with the international libraries by providing it with the latest library technologies to serve the library users at the University of Mosul.
