Under the auspices of the President of the University of Mosul Prof. Dr. Kossay Alahmady and under the supervision of the General Secretariat of the University of Mosul Libraries Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, the Central Library’s Continuing Education Division, headed by Ms. Saba Aljuboori, organized a 5-day theoretical and practical training course, January 22-26, 2023, on the Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC 21). The course was delivered by Asst. Lect. Mohammad Abid and Asst. Lect. Rawa Salahuddin, discussing the MARC 21 which is a computerized method of recording the information needed in a cataloging record: the descriptive cataloging, subject headings and other access points, and classification numbers and other call number information, noting that MARC 21 was designed to redefine the original MARC record format for the 21st century and to make it more accessible to the international community. On the last day, the course was concluded with a test of the attendants’ knowledge on the subject of the course
