Central Library

Under the auspices and presence of the President of the University of Mosul Prof. Dr. Kossay Alahmady, the General Secretariat of the University of Mosul Libraries conducted a celebration on the first anniversary of the reopening of the Central Library, which is adopted as the National Day of Iraqi Librarians. The celebration was attended by the University Council members, library staff members, a number of university faculties and students, some library retirees and guests. The celebration began with the recitation of some of the Holy Quran verses followed by speeches by Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, Secretary General of the University Libraries, and Ms. Shatha Ahmad, a library staff member, who mentioned the great efforts made by the University of Mosul, the library staff members and the society in cooperation with other local and international supporters to retrieve and restore the Central Library which was massively sabotaged by the terrorists. On this happy occasion, a documentary video was shown showing the importance of the Central Library and the University Rector honored and rewarded some of the recently retired library employees with gifts in recognition of their efforts during their years of service in the Central Library
