Central Library

As directed by the Alahmady-headed University of Mosul to strengthen cooperation with eminent figures, the Secretary General of the University Libraries Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar received, in the presence of the director of the University of Mosul Library Restoration Project Mr. Humam Talal and Mr. Abdullah, UNESCO Office Iraq, the visiting professor and international expert in education and peacebuilding studies and researches Dr. Kelsey Shanks, Director of the UNESCO Chair, University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, UK, during her visit to the Central Library. During the visit, the reality of the library and the latest findings of the Mosul University Library restoration project were reviewed in accordance with the joint visions of UNESCO, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the supporting bodies. Note that this is not her first visit to the library, as she had previously visited it within the framework of cooperation with the director of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Mosul Dr. Qabas Hasan Awwad. At the end of the visit, Mr. Sayf appreciated UNESCO’s support for the Central Library as it is a knowledge edifice that contributes to enhancing community awareness.
