In accordance with the directives of the President of the University of Mosul Prof. Dr. Kossay Alahmady on developing the skills of library staff members, and under the supervision and in the presence of the Secretary General of the University of Mosul Libraries Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar and in the presence of the Director of the Restoration of the University of Mosul Library Project Mr. Humam Talal, UNESCO-Iraqi, a number of library staff members at the University of Mosul attended two training courses, the first from July 31 to August 7, followed by a second one. The two courses covered the Unified Automated Cataloging and how to install the Koha Library Software which is the world’s first free, open source and fully featured, scalable library system to catalog books and periodicals in academic libraries. The first course was delivered by the Director of the Catalog and Information Systems Center Mr. Hasanain Ahmed and the Official of the Catalog of Periodicals Mr. Ehsan Karim, Al-Abbas Shrine. The second course was delivered by the Koha Library System Official Mr. Bahaa Taleb, Catalog and Information Systems Center, Al-Abbas Shrine.
