Conducting 5-day Course on Automated Cataloging of Ancient Arabic Books According to MARC 21 Format and RDA Rules

As directed by the University of Mosul regarding holding courses and workshops to raise scientific awareness amongst its members, and under the supervision and presence of the Director General of the University of Mosul Libraries Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jasim, the Division of Continuing Education at the Central Library organized a five-day course themed “Automated Cataloging of Ancient Arab Books Using MARC 21 Format and RDA Rules” on 6-10 April, 2025.
The course was delivered by two Central Library librarians: Lect. Rawa Salahuddin and Asst. Lect. Shatha Ahmed, giving a comprehensive explanation of automated cataloging of Ancient Arab Books according to the rules of the Resource Description and Access (RDA) and the Machine-Readable Cataloging 21 format (MARC 21), and training the course participants on automated cataloging and the Koha system used to create a unified automated catalog for all libraries of the University of Mosul.
