Central Library

As part of the activities of the “Reviving the Spirit of Mosul” initiative implemented by UNESCO in partnership with the University of Mosul and within the framework of the UNESCO project to support the Central Library, the General Secretariat of the Central Library received for the period….. a number of local delegations, including representatives of the Mosul Heritage Foundation.
This visit aims to boost efforts of the knowledge and cultural heritage preservation through the Central Library Restoration Project, which is one of the main axes of the initiative, in addition to
reviewing the modern devices and technologies that were supplied to the library within the above project. The delegation toured the library’s sections and briefed on the services provided to students and researchers, and also listened to a detailed explanation of the reconstruction efforts, technical modernization, and digitization programs implemented with the support of UNESCO and local and international partners.
This visit considers an important step towards strengthening the cultural and cognitive cooperation in order to restore the library’s role as avital intellectual and cultural center in the Mosul city.
