Workshop on (scientific strategies for preventing osteoporosis in women)

Under the auspices of the Honorable Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of the Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Jassim Mohammed, Director of the University of Mosul Libraries, and as part of a plan of implementing the Third National Plan for Woman, Security and Peace, the Woman’s Affairs Committee and the Continuing Education Division at the Central Library, in cooperation with the Woman’s Affairs Unit, the Studies and Planning Department, and the Sustainable Development Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, organized a scientific workshop on the morning of Tuesday, 12/16/2025. entitled: (Scientific Strategies for Preventing Osteoporosis in Women) The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Zaki Mahmoud Al-Abbaj ,University of Mosul,College of Science ,Department of Chemistry, where it was conducted by Ms. Rawa Asem Nori, and presented by Ms. Saba Maad Ahmed, The workshop covered the definition of osteoporosis, which affects the skeleton, weakens its density and causes a subtle deterioration in bone tissue, while increasing its fragility and susceptibility to fracture. People who suffer from it are more
susceptible to fractures. This disease affects 200 million people around the world and is often poorly treated and underdiagnosed, partly because it is a clinically silent disease until it appears as a fracture. The workshop aimed to highlight on the most important causes and factors leading to osteoporosis in women, and to explain scientific and preventive strategies that can reduce its spread, in addition to spreading health awareness and promoting a preventive culture that contributes to improving the quality of healthy life for women The workshop achieved the third goal: good health and well-being, the fourth goal: quality education, and the fifth goal: gender equality
