Our Immortal Central Library Defies Destruction and Returns More Magnificent to Life

Under the auspices and presence of Prof. Dr. Kossay Al-Ahmady, President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdulmohsen Atiyya, Advisor of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Najm Aljuboori, Governor of Nineveh, Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, Secretary General of the University Libraries, and many local and international political, cultural and social figures, the University of Mosul conducted on Saturday, February 19, 2022, an awesome celebration in the Grand University Theater on the occasion of the reopening of the Central Library reconstructed and restored by (UNDP) in cooperation with the Iraqi Government and with the local and international help as well as the continuous efforts made by the library staff members, after the massive and intentional destruction, looting, sabotage and charring it suffered during the ISIS occupation of Mosul.The slogan (The Word “Impossible” Does Not Exist In Our Dictionary) written on the left wall at the Library’s entrance is a symbol of triumph of humanitarianism, civilization and peace over terrorism.Congratulations to the academics, employees and students at the University of Mosul for the reviving and reopening of this great scientific and cultural edifice.
