The Director General of the University of Mosul Libraries Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jasim inaugurated the Suryan Book Fair held by the Center for Mosul Studies, in collaboration with the Union of Suryan Writers and the Central Library in observance of World Language Day on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
The Fair was attended by prominent cultural and literary figures. The former Director of Directorate General for Suryan Culture and Arts Dr. Rubin Beit Shamuel gave a presentation on a collection of his writings. The Chairman of the Union of Suryan Writers Mr. Rond Paules delivered a speech on the Union’s most important publications, including books, magazines and newsletters.
At the end of the event, books were distributed to the Fair attendants and many collections of books were donated to the Central Library and the the Center for Mosul Studies. An appreciation certificate was also provided to the Director
General of the University of Mosul Libraries Dr. Mohammed Jasim in recognition of his efforts in supporting cultural activities and enhancing the role of libraries in disseminating knowledge. The event was concluded with commemorative photographs documenting this distinctive cultural activity.
