The Central Library concludes three specialized scientific courses

In implementation of the directives of the President of the University of Mosul, the respected Professor Dr.Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, regarding the need to promote the technical staff and developing their skills, the Central Library concluded three specialized scientific courses for the period from May 4 to 28, 2025, in cooperation with UNESCO, in effective partnership with the Holy Abbasid Shrine, and under the supervision of the Secretary-General of the University Libraries, Assistant Professor Dr.Muhammad Jassim Muhammad.

The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of the President of the University and the official of the Education Sectorr at UNESCO – Iraq Office, Dr.Tab Raj, where certificates were distributed to the participants.

The courses included the following objectives:

Digital Archiving: It discussed the practical training on digital scanning devices (V-Scanner) and image editing programs (Photoshop), to prepare information vessels and configure them for uploading to digital repositories.

Digital Repository Management: It focused on the mechanisms for creating and managing digital repositories for university libraries and making their content available electronically.

Automatic authority control: It aimed to unify availability points in the electronic catalog and train indexers to create authority records for the authors and the subjects

The courses were presented by an elite group of specialists from the Center for Cataloging and Information Systems at the Holy Abbasid Shrine, namely: Mr. Hassaneen Ahmed Hassan and the Engineer Mustafa Alaa Hasoon.

These activities come within the Central Library Restoration Project implemented by UNESCO and with the support of the Italian Development Agency
