Regional Studies Center Holds a Workshop on the Role of Higher Education in Enhancing National Heritage Identity
In the context of seeking to preserve the historical and heritage identity of Iraq, the Regional Studies Center held a workshop entitled “The Role of Higher Education in Strengthening the National Heritage Identity,” in the presence of the Center’s researchers, on January 11, 2024.
The workshop aimed to identify the concept and meaning of heritage identity, the form and types of Iraqi heritage and how it differs from antiquities, ways to enhance and preserve it, and the role of educational institutions in educating the importance of our national heritage and how to preserve it as many countries often seek to preserve their historical and heritage identity.
The workshop addressed several topics, including the role of education in explaining the importance of heritage identity and its historical value, the efforts of Iraqi governments to enhance the preservation of Iraqi heritage, and the historical and cultural importance and value of heritage.
