Success Story of Regional Studies Center
Within the activities of the Sustainable Development Festival, Regional Studies Center participated in the Sustainable Development Festival, which was organized by the University of Mosul on May 7, 2024.
The participation aimed to review the center’s success story, during which Assist. Prof. Dr. Nofal Qasim Al-Shahwan gave a comprehensive presentation on the reality of the Regional Studies Center, especially after the liberation operations and the comprehensive destruction of its buildings, including its library, which was the beating heart of the center with the most important things it contained including references and scientific and research sources for researchers and postgraduate students from all over our dear country. However, thanks to the cooperation between the Center and the Presidency of the University of Mosul, the Center was able to regain its stranding in a short period by resuming its usual activities by keeping up with current events in the regional and international arenas through the topics that it raises, discusses and analyzes, represented by its continuous activities of participation and holding conferences, scientific seminars, and workshops and symposiums throughout the academic year. The Center also sought to provide its library with scientific sources, in addition to writing and publishing scientific research and issuing books by its researchers within the Centre’s jurisdiction, supervising and providing academic advice to postgraduate students, in addition to continuing to publish the Centre’s peer-reviewed scientific journal, “ Regional Studies Journal”, which has achieved an important step when indexed within the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and it is currently making progress towards reaching Scopus.
