The Thirty-Ninth Anniversary of the Regional Studies Center’s Establishment at the University of Mosul
The Regional Studies Center was established on 24 August 1985 as the Turkish Studies Center. The Center’s focus then expanded to include, in addition to Turkey, the affairs of Iraq’s regional neighbors. The Center has sought to provide studies, research, books, conferences, and symposiums that follow Iraqi affairs and its regional surroundings to develop Iraq’s relations with its neighbors and draw up proposals to expand these relations in a way that preserves Iraq’s independence and guarantees its supreme national interests. The Center has been honored and praised many times, as it was ranked first out of 14 research centers in Iraq in 2004. The Center was also honored on Science Day (6 April 2010) by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research with a certificate of appreciation, which confirmed the Ministry’s appreciation of the Centre’s efforts in serving scientific research and its distinguished scientific activity. The Center also received a certificate of excellence from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on Science Day (2010-2011) and letters of thanks and appreciation from official and unofficial bodies.
