Regional Studies Center Holds a Symposium on Reality and Future of Iraq’s Relations with its Arab Neighboring Countries
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamal al-Din al-Ahmadi, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mithaq Khairallah Jaloud, Regional Studies Center/University of Mosul held the 58th scientific symposium entitled “The reality and future of Iraq’s relations with its Arab neighboring countries” with the participation of a group of researchers and academics on November 3, 2024.
The symposium aimed to present papers and research contributions to shed light on the reality and future of Iraq’s relations with neighboring Arab countries in light of the circumstances that the Middle East region is going through; emphasizing the important milestones in bilateral relations and the most prominent challenges facing the form and nature of Iraq’s relations with the Arab neighboring countries in light of Iraq’s endeavor to open up and deepen ties with Arab countries.
The symposium addressed the following topics: The first theme tackled the future of Iraqi-Saudi relations, by Prof. Dr. Mithaq Khairallah Jaloud, Director of Regional Studies Center. The second theme examined the topic of the constant and changing in Iraqi foreign policy towards Jordan, by Assist. Prof. Dr. Fawaz Muwaffaq Thannoun, Faculty of Education for Human Sciences. The third theme reviewed the future of Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations, a joint paper by Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Khalaf Mohammad, Head of the Public Policies Department and Dr. Marwa Zuhair Al-Nahas, Faculty of Education for Human Sciences, Al-Hamdaniya University .Finally, the fourth theme covered the topic of the future of Iraqi-Egyptian relations, by Assist. Lect. Manjid Mohammad Fawzi, Public Policies Department at Regional Studies Center.
At its conclusion, the symposium emphasized the importance and necessity of opening new horizons for Arab cooperation, in a way that serves common Arab interests and contributes to strengthening security and stability in the region.
