Regional Studies Center Holds a Scientific Workshop on Human Rights in Arab Countries
Regional Studies Center, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit, held a scientific workshop entitled “Human Rights in Arab Countries: Reality and Ambition” on December 1, 2024, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mithaq Khairallah Jalloud, Director of the Center, and Prof. Dr. Raafat Luay Al-Faraj, Scientific Assistant at the College of Islamic Sciences, with the participation of a group of academics and specialists.
The workshop aimed to discuss the challenges facing human rights, with a focus on women’s rights in Arab countries, and envision future ambitions to improve these rights.
The workshop presented several research papers, including a paper on women’s rights in the Maghreb countries: Selected models reviewed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Kifah Abbas Ramadan / College of Education for Humanities; the workshop also contained a paper entitled The Reality of Human Rights in the Arab Countries: An Overview, presented by Assist. lecturer Fawzi Mohammad Saleh. A paper entitled Political Participation of Arab Women: Reality and Challenges presented by Assist. Lecturer Ula Mumtaz Ismail, in addition to a paper that addressed the rights of women in Egypt in the political field presented by Assist. Lecturer Manjid Mohammad Fawzi / Regional Studies Center. In conclusion, the scientific workshop witnessed extensive interventions and discussions that enriched its subject matter.
