Regional Studies Center Holds a Seminar on Recent Events in Syria
On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Regional Studies Center organized a seminar entitled “Recent events in Syria: the regional and international repercussions”. The seminar aimed to shed light on the current developments in the Syrian arena, their effects on the security and stability of the countries of the region, and the regional and international positions on them.
The seminar discussed several topics, the most important of which are the political and military developments of the conflict in Syria, the positions and role of regional and international powers in the conflict, as well as providing a forward-looking reading of these developments, and the consequences of the conflict on the civilian population and the wave of displacement caused by the military confrontations between the warring parties.
The seminar was attended by a number of academics and researchers, who provided various insights and in-depth analysis of the current situation. The seminar concluded with several recommendations aimed at the importance of adopting wisdom and care in dealing with these events, strengthening the security aspect on the Iraqi-Syrian border to preserve the security and stability of Iraq and keep it away from all regional and international conflicts, and calling for regional and international dialogue and understanding to achieve stability in Syria and the region.
