Regional Studies Center organized a scientific lecture by Abdul Ghafoor Waadallah Al-Shamaa, entitled “The Orientations and Interests of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in establishing artificial intelligence departments in Iraqi universities” on December 11, 2024.
The lecture focused on the significance of artificial intelligence in building an advanced knowledge society and achieving sustainable development by enhancing technical skills and research innovations.
The lecture included several themes, including the role of artificial intelligence in modernizing academic curricula and strengthening the partnership between universities and industry sectors, as well as the importance of developing national staff in programming and data analysis to support the changing labor market.
The lecture witnessed a wide interaction among the attendees, who exchanged views on ways to support AI initiatives in the field of education and scientific research. They recommended the necessity of introducing its curricula starting from the primary stages and then upwards so that students keep pace with the development in this field.
