Regional Studies Center Holds a Scientific Lecture on Transportation Problems in Iraq

In the context of its responsibility to serve the community and support sustainable development goals, Regional Studies Center organized a scientific lecture entitled “Transportation problems in Iraq and their effects on the environment and society”, presented by Prof. Dr. Mithaq Khairallah Jaloud, Director of the Center, on March 23, 2025.
The lecture aimed to highlight the challenges facing the transportation sector in Iraq, including deteriorating infrastructure, traffic jams, and air pollution caused by traditional means of transportation. It also addressed the impact of these issues on the quality of life in Iraqi cities and their negative impact on the environment and the national economy.
The lecturer reviewed possible solutions to improve this sector, such as developing public transportation networks, promoting the use of alternative means of transportation, and increasing attention to the environment in urban planning plans.
At the end of the lecture, it was emphasized that governmental and private efforts should be combined to address these issues to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment for Iraqi society.
