Regional Studies Center Organizes a Seminar on Empowering Women Scientifically and Professionally

In implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Security and Peace, which is based on the pillar of participation and institutional reform for 2025, Regional Studies Center, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit in the Presidency of the University of Mosul, held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, a seminar entitled “Scientific Potential of Women and Labor Market Areas”, presented by Assistant Professor Ula Mumtaz Ismail, in the presence of several academics, researchers and those interested in women’s issues.
The seminar aimed to highlight the vital role that women play in the scientific and academic field while exploring the opportunities and challenges they face when entering the labor market, and the importance of enhancing women’s participation in various sectors, whether in traditional or emerging fields, to achieve comprehensive development that takes advantage of their energies and capabilities.
The seminar addressed several pivotal issues, discussing the scientific potential of women and their ability to innovate and compete in research and practical fields. It also touched on the social and cultural barriers that may hinder their professional progress, as well as the promising opportunities in sectors such as technology, science, and scientific research. The lecture pointed to the need to provide a supportive work environment for women, through fair employment policies and training programs that meet the requirements of the changing labor market.
At the end of the seminar, it was emphasized to strengthen cooperation between educational institutions, government agencies, and the private sector to empower women and overcome obstacles, and the role of the family and society in encouraging girls to enter promising scientific and professional disciplines, thus contributing to achieving integration between women’s potential and the needs of sustainable development.
