Regional Studies Center Holds a Scientific Lecture on the Importance of Voluntary Action and its Role in Spreading the Culture of Selflessness
Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul organized a scientific lecture entitled “The importance of volunteer action and its role in encouraging cooperation and spreading the culture of Selflessness”, delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Rahman Al-Obeidi, on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
The lecture aimed to highlight the positive impact of voluntary action in societies and its role in building bridges of cooperation and social cohesion, as well as promoting the values of unconditional giving and selflessness in the hearts of individuals, especially in light of the challenges faced by contemporary societies.
The lecture dealt with the basic axes of the concept of volunteerism, reviewing some successful public and private experiences in this field. The lecture also touched on the importance of integrating the culture of volunteering into educational curricula and institutional programs, as it is a basic pillar in the development of social and humanitarian awareness, noting that volunteering is not limited to the service aspect, but extends to include the value and educational dimension in the formation of the individual’s personality.
At the end of the lecture, there were extensive discussions among the attendees, which emphasized the need to activate voluntary initiatives inside and outside the university because of their effective role in serving the community and enhancing the spirit of cooperation and national belonging.
